So Michael is not just another senior. He's also my nephew who has worked really hard the past few years to catch up after becoming extremely ill during his first years of high school. Later, after months of not eating and drastically losing weight, the doctors found that he has diabetes.
Now he is healthy and found a focus to graduate on time with his own class.
He's a little camera shy also, but you would never know it from these photos. I had to give him very little direction, and they all came out great!
There are days that just feel blah. I feel uncreative and stuck. I don't like anything I shoot and feel like I have run out of ideas. I imagine it feels like writer's block for authors. It's definitely draining and frustrating.
Then, bam, like lightning, something sparks an interest or a pique in creativity, and my mind goes running. It comes out of nowhere, and I don't question it. I just let the ideas flow, usually onto paper in my bullet journal so I can flesh them out later.
Normally, the things that get me going with ideas for clients are things that I would want for myself. A session with lots of color or a theme that screams FUN! A peaceful look between a baby and daddy or a mommy laughing with her little girl. For me, capturing those small moments is the big one, the thing that makes me love my job and my clients.
Inspiration can be all around us. In our physical surroundings, in what's happening in our life or someone's life who is close to us, or even what we want from the future.
For example, my daughter is two now, and since I totally missed a photo shoot around her birthday, I am planning a princess-themed shoot instead. She loves all things Disney, and in 20 years, I will look back and remember how she sang Let It Go to her Mickey Mouse and Pluto stuffed animals. It's the memories of our everyday lives, in a beautiful setting.
What are the things that inspire you?
As a photographer who is also a mom, it should be no surprise that I LOVE taking photos of my kiddo. She is funny and sweet and always available for me! I started this project, the 52 week project, last January, and I promised myself that I would take at least one photo of her a week to share, then to combine into a memory keeping book.

Last year, I managed to keep up really well. I put photos up on my personal blog every Wednesday, and it was perfect to look back and watch her grow.

This year, I was able to keep up for most of the weeks up until now, and life has been crazy so I am happy to say I am only a week behind posting the photos.
Photographers often take on projects for their own satisfaction and creative need, and this project fulfills that for me too. I may start posting some of the photos of Reagan here along with my personal blog.

What are some of your photography projects?
My sister and her now-husband have been together for 10 years, so it wasn't a huge surprise when he proposed (on a cruise ship in front of their favorite band 311!).
She started planning. She wanted elegant and sophisticated, and we were all excited about a beautiful wedding next year. Then we got a text from her. They had decided to do a courthouse wedding.
A week and a half later, I was snapping photos of my sister and her new husband. Craziness!

If you have happened upon my site by accident, welcome! If you’re a friend visiting the new site, welcome and thank you!
I am so excited to be getting a jump start on the summer with a new look and place to call home for my business. It has been a long time coming for me to find a place and fall in love with it. I finally feel that this look, this logo, this feel is me and represents my business well.
I have been “in business” for about 4 years total, with only 2 of those really being serious. This will be the second big year, and I am hoping that I can achieve every goal I have set for 2016, and as of today, I am about halfway there on each one. Right on track.
Please look around and let me know what you think of the new site, the photos, and the pages! Leave a note or a review on the guestbook page!
